Gasoline retail is one of the most competitive businesses period. They make money on more than just gas. People will drive way out of their way to save a penny per gallon and drive right past the more expensive stations.
Retailers have historically raced each other to the bottom...not the top.
This action was famously known as THE GAS WARS where retailers lowered gas prices against each other until they were only make a penny per gallon.
